It’s all about the details…

In events, it’s often the little things that matter the most, like remembering a clients’ birthday, a piece of music for a sting, the position of a menu/table card, for example. However, most importantly, we need to remember as professionals that this might be the only event that your client does this year or even at all and, to them, it means everything.

What better example is there of this than when you’re planning a wedding? That’s truly when every tiny detail matters. I was lucky enough to support Beth and Tom with the final planning of their gorgeous summer wedding last month. They had been talking about, researching and planning their big day for two years, and had a vision as to what everything had to look like.

Beth and Tom asked me to support with the final set up and coordination of their big day.

My role was simple, let the bride, groom and their families get ready and enjoy the day, so I was sent a full briefing doc in advance with all supplier details and a run of show.

On the day, the marquee/kitchen/toilets were all in place, and so was I, making sure the room was set up and that all the suppliers arrived on time and set the tables as per the instructions, liaising with the Bar Manager, MC and external caterers and keeping things running to schedule. 

Of course, you can’t plan for British weather, and it did rain - but with that aside, the set up was smooth and the marquee looked stunning, with hundreds of fresh flowers in gorgeous summer colours adorning the surfaces. A stage with full AV was set up for the band, as was a purpose-built cocktail bar and a supremely grown, loved and manicured cottage garden and allotment (complete with a gorgeous rise archway) for everyone to enjoy.

This was not my normal day in the world of events but, honestly, it has to have been one of my favourites. Seeing how happy Beth and Tom were when they saw their vision come together was priceless.

Events are all about creating memories and moments - and celebrating the most wonderful thing of all - love, love, love!!
